Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

Therapy can be beneficial for anyone seeking personal growth or facing challenges such as trauma, anxiety, depression, or relationship issues. If you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or want to develop healthier patterns, therapy may provide the tools you need to thrive.

How long does therapy take to show results?

The timeline varies depending on individual goals and the complexity of issues being addressed. While some people experience progress within a few sessions, others might benefit from longer-term therapy. Commitment to the process plays a significant role in achieving desired outcomes.

What happens during a typical therapy session?

In each session, you and your therapist will explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Sessions may involve setting goals, discussing challenges, and practicing strategies to promote emotional regulation and personal growth. Evidence-based techniques, like CBT or EMDR, will be used when appropriate.

What if therapy doesn’t seem to be working for me?

If you feel therapy isn't meeting your expectations, discussing your concerns with your therapist is essential. Sometimes adjusting goals, switching to a different therapeutic approach, or even changing therapists can make a difference. Therapy is a collaborative process, and it’s okay to explore what works best for you.

How do I prepare for my first therapy session?

Before your first session, reflect on what you hope to achieve. Make a note of your main concerns, any symptoms you’ve experienced, and your personal goals. This can help your therapist understand your needs and guide the process effectively.

How much does counseling/therapy cost?

Our rates vary from $120 to $150 per session. The psychological evaluation rate is different, and detailed information is noted on the evaluation page on this website.

How do I balance therapy with a busy schedule?

Consider scheduling sessions at times that align with your routine, and communicate your therapy commitments with family or work. Online therapy can also provide flexibility by reducing commute time and offering access from the comfort of your home.

How is progress measured in therapy?

Progress can be observed through emotional shifts, improved coping strategies, and positive behavioral changes. Regular check-ins with your therapist help track your progress, ensuring that your goals align with your evolving needs and challenges.

How do I choose the right therapist?

Finding the right therapist is about trust and compatibility. Look for someone whose approach resonates with you, and don’t hesitate to schedule a consultation to determine if you feel comfortable and understood in their presence. A strong  connection is essential for effective therapeutic work.

What if I need to reschedule or cancel a session?

We require 24 hours’ notice to avoid late cancelations and no-shows fees. If this fails to occur, cancellations and rescheduled sessions will be subject to a $75 charge.

We may arrange to provide the session via phone to better help accommodate your needs. If you are late for a session, you may lose some of your session time.
